Dear Commissioner Stamey,

I am writing you to express my strong opposition to the proposed modification, MC-10-01, to zoning conditions requested by Hartman, Simons, Spielman and Wood, LLP for property located on the south side of Turner Church Road, east of Airline Road, Brightwood Place subdivision.  When the subject property was originally rezoned from RA to Residential in 2004 many citizens living in the area objected to the rezoning request.  The approval of the zoning change by the BOC was based on specific conditions that were presented in an effort to satisfy the developer and citizens.  The specific conditions were intended to protect the rural character of the neighborhood and existing homeowner property values.

Your efforts to maintain the rural character of District 3 and the existing home values is commendable and we appreciate your efforts.  With the current economic climate and the devastating impact of foreclosures on homes in Henry County it does not make sense to reduce building requirements so that an investor can take advantage of the citizens in District 3.  Smaller and lower quality homes will put additional pressure on our already fragile school system and the tax base that is needed to provide required public services.

We are asking you to vote against the proposed modification to zoning conditions and to express the citizens concerns with other Henry County Commissioners.

 Thank you,

Has anyone read or heard anything about the Killearn Apartment Complex? I am still trying to find out details. This complex is slated for somewhere around Jodeco Road, and would also have a huge impact on the local schools. Know anything? Email me.
